This structured capacity-building initiative is designed to move participants from basic knowledge to real production experience within a short period.
The programme combines theoretical learning, practical field exposure and supervised incubation, positioning participants to become profitable BSF producers within the emerging national supply value chain.
Programme Structure
Pre-Training Online Study (1 Week)
Participants will first undergo guided online tutorials covering foundational concepts in Black Soldier Fly farming, industry opportunities, and production fundamentals.
The onsite practical training provides a deep, hands-on understanding of BSF production systems and business operations.
Participants will gain knowledge in:
- BSF Biology and Lifecycle Management.
- Understanding egg, larval, prepupal and adult stages for optimal production planning.
- Feed Substrate Formulation and Waste Conversion Systems
- Utilisation of brewery waste, organic waste streams and other substrates for efficient larval growth.
- Breeding and Colony Establishment Techniques Design, installation and management of breeding cages and egg collection systems.
- Climate and Environmental Control
- Maintaining temperature, humidity and lighting conditions required for high productivity.
- Harvesting, Processing and Storage Methods
- Techniques for sieving, drying and preparing larvae for livestock feed applications.
- Agribusiness Development and Market Entry Strategy
- Cost analysis, revenue projections, supply chain integration and cooperative marketing models.
1-Month Supervised
Incubation Programme
After the practical training, participants will enter a structured incubation phase where they will:
Participate in group production cycles using provided breeding stock and feed substrates.
Gain experience in daily farm management and productivity monitoring.
Learn scaling strategies and cooperative production models.
Develop confidence to establish personal or cluster-based BSF farms.
Post-Training Opportunity:
Graduates will receive guidance on how to become Founding Distributors within the proposed National BSF Supply Network, enabling them to participate in structured market access and long-term income generation.
