2Baba’s Wife Natasha Osawaru Emerges Edo Assembly Minority Leader After Leadership Reshuffle

Natasha Osawaru, wife of Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has emerged as the Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Osawaru, who represents Egor Constituency, was announced as Minority Leader during plenary on Monday, August 17, 2026, following a reshuffle of principal officers in the state legislature.

The development marks another significant chapter in Osawaru’s political career. Before assuming the latest position, she had previously served in a principal leadership role in the Assembly.

Her emergence also comes amid shifting political alignments within the Edo legislature. Reports indicate that Osawaru defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in May 2026.

The leadership reshuffle places Osawaru among the principal opposition figures in the Edo State House of Assembly and gives her a more prominent role in coordinating the minority caucus and contributing to legislative debates.

Beyond her political career, Osawaru has attracted considerable national attention because of her relationship with 2Baba. However, her latest appointment puts the spotlight firmly on her growing role within Edo State politics.

The development is expected to attract further attention as political realignments continue within the Edo State House of Assembly.
