The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered and sealed a suspected illegal factory allegedly used for the production and packaging of adulterated alcoholic drinks in Yafin, Badagry area of Lagos State.
The operation also led to the arrest of a 48-year-old man identified as Anaebo Emeka Hilary, who was found at the premises.
According to a statement by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, operatives discovered the facility after receiving credible information from members of the public.
During the operation, police recovered quantities of suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, different wine labels and various production utensils believed to have been used in producing and packaging the beverages.
Following the discovery, the police sealed the facility while Hilary was taken into custody. The recovered materials were also moved to the police station as investigations continue.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, commended officers involved in the operation for their vigilance and prompt response to information supplied by residents.
Fatai reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information about suspected criminal activities within their communities.
The discovery has renewed concerns about the production and circulation of adulterated alcoholic beverages, particularly products packaged to resemble legitimate brands and potentially sold to unsuspecting consumers.
