Chief executives of federal government agencies and parastatals have launched a coalition to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027, pledging to mobilise at least 10 million votes for the President.
Operating under the Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals, the group unveiled its initiative during a meeting with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and members of the party’s National Working Committee in Abuja.
The forum says it intends to establish a campaign-support structure focusing on grassroots mobilisation, political messaging, election planning, monitoring and management. Its leaders said the structure would complement rather than compete with the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
Chairman of the forum and Director-General of the National Board for Technology Incubation, Dr Kazeem Kolawole Raji, said members were participating not only as heads of government institutions but also as professionals, political stakeholders and Nigerians interested in the country’s development.
Raji argued that where the administration has recorded achievements, those achievements should be communicated to citizens.
The forum’s Media and Publicity Committee Chairman and Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, said the group intends to provide technical and communication support to the formal APC campaign machinery.
According to Ajiboye, the 2027 campaign would increasingly focus on presenting what the administration says it has accomplished in office, rather than primarily making promises about what it intends to do.
The APC has already constituted its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, with former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari serving as Director-General and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as Secretary. Tinubu chairs the council, while Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Yilwatda serve as vice-chairmen.
Yilwatda welcomed the federal agency chiefs’ initiative and said grassroots mobilisation would be important to the party’s electoral preparations. He endorsed further discussions on how the forum could complement the campaign council.
The forum had previously named Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume as its patron and announced its target of mobilising at least 10 million votes for Tinubu. It says its activities will involve lawful, peaceful and issue-based engagement with citizens.
The involvement of serving chief executives of federal agencies in an explicitly partisan re-election effort could also attract scrutiny over the boundary between their political activities and their official public-service responsibilities, particularly regarding the use of government institutions, personnel and resources. The forum itself says its members are participating as political stakeholders and that its campaign activities will be lawful and ethical.
As preparations for 2027 intensify, the development adds another organised mobilisation structure to Tinubu’s campaign alongside the APC’s formal Presidential Campaign Council.
