The City Boy Movement, a political support group campaigning for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, has extended its mobilisation drive to Anambra State as political activities ahead of the next general election intensify.
The group is urging residents of the state to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term, making Anambra another focus of its grassroots campaign.
The development comes amid increasing political activity in the South-East, where different political groups and parties are positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
Tinubu recorded relatively limited electoral support in the South-East during the 2023 presidential election, making efforts by his supporters to expand the President’s political base in the region significant ahead of 2027.
The Anambra mobilisation also comes as other pro-Tinubu organisations intensify activities in the region. The Ndigbo for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 Forum recently announced what it described as a data-driven strategy for strengthening grassroots support across the five South-East states.
Works Minister David Umahi has also publicly urged South-East residents to support Tinubu’s second-term bid, citing federal infrastructure interventions in the region.
Anambra could therefore become an important test of whether pro-Tinubu organisations can translate grassroots mobilisation into greater electoral support in a state where opposition politics has historically been strong.
Ultimately, however, the effectiveness of the City Boy Movement’s campaign will be determined by how Anambra voters respond to its message as parties and support groups compete for votes ahead of the 2027 election.
