The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the outcome of the recently concluded local government elections in the state, describing the exercise as a major demonstration of the party’s growing political strength and grassroots acceptance.
Party leaders, while reacting to the election results, expressed satisfaction with the performance of APC candidates and hailed members for what they described as unwavering commitment and unity throughout the electoral process.
Buoyed by the outcome of the polls, the party declared that it was well-positioned to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
According to the party, the local government election has provided a strong indication of the APC’s expanding support base in Edo State. Party officials argued that the results reflected the confidence of the electorate in the leadership of President Tinubu and the policies of the Federal Government.
The APC also praised party loyalists, campaign coordinators and grassroots mobilisers for ensuring what it described as a successful electoral outing. It called on members to remain united and intensify efforts toward consolidating the party’s structures ahead of future elections.
The assurance of delivering 2.5 million votes comes as political parties across the country begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections. While campaign activities have yet to officially commence under the electoral timetable, political stakeholders are already making projections and mobilising support in anticipation of the next electoral cycle.
Political observers note that such declarations are common after electoral victories and often serve as a strategy to boost party morale and demonstrate confidence in future contests. However, they also point out that actual electoral outcomes will depend on voter turnout, campaign strategies, candidate popularity, public perception of governance and the prevailing political climate at the time of the elections.
The APC maintained that it remains committed to strengthening its presence across Edo State and working towards what it described as an overwhelming victory for President Tinubu and other party candidates in 2027.
